Dr. Cargen has had a passion for animals for as long as she can remember. She was born and raised in Tucson, AZ, where her parents owned and operated an equine boarding facility.

She was an avid horse rider, and actively participated in equestrian competitions. She worked for 10 years as a veterinary technician prior to entering veterinary school.

She graduated from Kansas State University in 2004, and subsequently completed one year of theriogenology (equine reproductive medicine) at Washington State University in Pullman, WA.

She has extensive veterinary experience in a variety of clinical settings, including emergency, outpatient and hospital based practices. She is board-certified in animal chiropractic.

She has 3 dogs and 3 cats, and lives in NW Portland. She has a variety of hobbies and interests including international travel, fine wines, horseback riding and outdoor nature activities.

Dr. Lane found her true calling of veterinary medicine in high school while taking care of animals as a volunteer at the Idaho Human Society. She graduated from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) with a B.Sc in Zoology and attended WSU Veterinary College. She moved to Portland in 2007 and worked for almost 14 years at a corporate veterinary practice before joining Willamette Valley Mobile Veterinary Practice in 2021.

As an experienced small animal general practitioner she understands the stress and anxiety that pets experience at veterinary clinics, and strives to provide quality and nurturing care in a familiar and comforting home environment. She values the development of long-term relationships with pets and their families through all stages of life, taking care of them as adorable puppies and kittens through adulthood and culminating in the difficult but necessary issues surrounding end-of-life care. She has a specific clinical interest in reproductive medicine and in caring for “meat-head” breeds (Boxers, Pit bulls, Rottweilers, etc.).

She lives in SW Portland with her husband Shane and two kids. They have a sassy 3 legged cat, a Flemish giant rabbit, and are about to welcome a new Boxer puppy into their home.
